164.2 Million Acres: Mapping America’s Reforestation Opportunity

The Reforestation Hub is an interactive tool from The Nature Conservancy and American Forests that helps landowners, practitioners, and policymakers identify the best places to restore forest cover. This spring, brand new updates were released to make the Reforestation Hub more useful than ever.  Experts from the Nature Conservancy and American Forests joined Forests Plus for a tour of the Reforestation Hub. Using the latest data and science, they shared how the Hub helps landowners, practitioners, policymakers, and conservationists identify lower-cost, higher-impact places to restore forest cover from riparian buffers and wildlife corridors to federal, tribal, state, and private lands. Thank you to the speakers who joined us:

Markets Matter, and We Should All be Paying More Attention

Healthy forests don't happen on their own, they require active management. The U.S. produces about 270 million dry tons of wood fiber a year, but markets are only absorbing 214 million. The rest is economically stranded and that is a liability for the forests and the communities that depend on
